Title	Evaluation study to support the fitness check of the Birds and Habitats Directives.
Description	The overall aim of the study contract is to assist the European Commission in the preparation of a fitness check of EU nature legislation (Birds and Habitats Directives). This will entail compiling, assessing and synthesising evidence for the fitness check. The study will approach this on the basis of examination of specific questions linked to each of the following categories: relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and coherence, as well as its EU added value. As a key element of this the study will need to compile evidence and assess: implementation and integration successes and problems; the monetary and non-monetary costs of implementation and of non-implementation of the legislation; the administrative burden of implementation and opportunities for improving implementation without compromising the integrity of the purpose of the Directives; the situation of implementation in different Member States; the views of key stakeholder groups.
