Services supporting the European Environment Agency's (EEA's) implementation of cross-cutting activities for coordination of the ‘in situ’ component of the Copernicus programme (2 lots).
Copernicus, previously known as GMES (global monitoring for environment and security) is the European programme for the establishment of a European capacity for earth observation.The EEA is requesting the services of 1 or 2 contractors within the scope of 2 thematic domains or lots i.e. lot 1: observations (meteorology, oceanography, atmospheric chemistry and air quality, and climate); and lot 2: spatial data themes. The 2 thematic domains will cover a very large part, if not all, of the ‘in situ’ datasets and derived products needed by the Copernicus services to produce and/or validate products.

Lot 1 Observations The EEA has been tasked by the European Commission with implementing the cross-cutting activities for coordination of the ‘in situ’ component of the Copernicus programme. The coordination activities have been divided into 4 main tasks as described in the tender specifications. It is in order to accomplish these 4 tasks that the EEA requests expert thematic and technical support regarding ‘in situ’ observations and derived products required by the Copernicus services. This lot comprises the following thematic domains: meteorology, oceanography, atmospheric chemistry and air quality and climate.
Lot 2 Spatial data themes The EEA has been tasked by the European Commission with implementing the cross-cutting activities for coordination of the ‘in situ’ component of the Copernicus programme. The coordination activities have been divided into 4 main tasks as described in the tender specifications. It is in order to accomplish these 4 tasks that the EEA requests expert thematic and technical support regarding spatial data themes required by the Copernicus services. This lot comprises the following thematic themes as outlined in the Inspire Directive (Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14.3.2007 establishing an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (Inspire), OJ L 108, 25.4.2007, p. 1): Annex I, Annex II and Annex III (except themes: 13, 14 and 15).
