With this call EFSA aims to get support with a mandate (M-2022-00138) received from the European Commission (EC) on aquatic animal diseases listed in Annex II to the Regulation (EU) 2016/429 (Animal Health Law; AHL). For each of the listed diseases (13 in total), an assessment should be carried out to:(a) to identify the species or groups of species of aquatic animals that pose a considerable risk of spread because they are vectors or reservoirs for the disease; and(b) to investigate the conditions under which they should be regarded as vectors or reservoirs. The assessment will be based on the scientific evidence found through an extensive literature review, based on a pre-defined criteria that will determine if an animal species is a vector or not.
