Title	Impact of Trade Policy on land use
Description	Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure. The objective of this project is to provide an overview of existing quantitative methodologies analysing the relationship between trade policy and land use change. The main focus should be on mechanisms employed in common CGE models, but other methodologies will have to be surveyed as well. Criteria to be evaluated in the reviewed models include the following: Is land purely treated as an endowment or can land move in and out of cultivation? Is there a distinction between ecosystems to which idle land belongs? Is there an explicit quantification of the relationship between land moving in and out of cultivation and its marginal value product? Is this relationship grounded in solid empirical work, i.e. inventories of ecosystems and estimated behavioural parameters? The final deliverable of the project will be a report in which the relevant methodologies are explained, evaluated and compared according to these and other relevant criteria. It will include an assessment of the credibility of each of the approaches and a suggestion for critical elements for improving them. A call for tenders with detailed Tender Specifications is expected to be launched with a two months deadline for the submission of tenders, with an indicative maximum value of the contract of EUR 35,000. A contract is planned to be signed by the end of 2023 with a final report due six months after the signature of a contract.
