GLOBAL PROJECTIONS OF STORM SURGES AND WAVES UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE SCENARIOS
Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure.

The aim of this work is to provide the JRC with quantitative estimates of how meteorological sea level components will evolve during the present century along coastlines worldwide. A range of greenhouse gases emissions scenarios will be considered, ranging from stringent mitigation to high emissions. Specific objectives involve the modelling of waves (i) and of storm surges (ii) along coastlines worldwide. The following emissions scenarios are to be considered: SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, SSP5-8.5. A critical aspect in the execution of this work is the definition of the ensemble of forcing Global Climate Models (GCMs). There is some freedom in the selection of the latter, but it is required that the 5 models classified as primary in the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP ) will be used. The ISIMIP ensemble consists of 10 models that reproduce the variability of larger ensembles. Of these, 5 models are classified as primary, and considered as mandatory in ISIMIP-compliant studies. The other 5 models are classified as secondary and considered optional.
