Title	Assessment of new technologies for infectious disease surveillance, prevention and control
Description	ECDC is initiating a project to1) Identify and collate the relevant evidence and present it in a form that serves as a source of information to ECDC and its key stakeholders and supports strategic decision-making in the area of new technologies of potential relevance to public health and the Centre’s mandate;2) Assess the proven and possible future impact (time frame 5-10 years) of recent advances in:(a) information- and communication technology; and(b) microbiology testing and microbiological diagnostics on public health, in particular communicable disease surveillance, prevention and control. Based on 1) and 2), ECDC will in close collaboration with its key stakeholders identify the new technologies with the largest potential — both positive and disruptive — over the next years, as well as the ECDC functions and public health questions within the Centre’s remit that could benefit from the identified new technologies and respective investments, and develop a roadmap.
