LC-GC-MS/FID for Mineral Oil Analysis
Supply, installation, training and maintenance of an online high performance Liquid Chromatograph coupled to Gas Chromatograph with Single Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer and Flame Ionisation Detection(LC-GC-MS/FID) to replace an existing configuration used to execute the work programme of the EURL-FCM. In particular, for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of mineral oil, hence mainly small molecules. The mineral oil fractions of concern consist mainly of complex mixtures of hydrocarbons, mainly of fossil origin. The online coupled LC-GC-MS/FID constitutes a technique of choice for the separation, identification and quantification of mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons relevant for the mineral oil monitoring. Quantification of mineral oil hydrocarbons is carried out with an online-LC-GC-FID technique. The results obtained from LC-GC-FID can be verified in the same run by using LC-GC-MS and by interpretation of the obtained mass spectra.
