Support to the assessment of the 2020 climate change pledges from large Asian emitters
Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure.

The Economics of Climate Change, Energy and Transport (JRC.C.6) Unit of Directorate C 'Energy, Transport and Climate' unit counts with different modelling tools for the assessment of the impacts of climate-related policies at EU and global level. These tools aim at mimicking the market behaviour in those sectors whose economic activity entails greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (mainly energy-intensive sectors and land-use ones), as well as the macroeconomic impacts in terms of costs, efficiency gains, terms of trade, jobs, etc. across the different sectors of the economies. The JRC.C.6 Unit is seeking to enhance its modelling and analysis capabilities related to country-level and global projections of GHG emissions pathways, with special focus on addressing the implications of the pledges announce by Japan, China and South Korea. This involves the mobilization and improvement of the energy-economy models at the disposal of the Unit; the update of the underlying databases; and the execution of quantitative analyses under different assumptions of regional and global policy architectures. The aim of this contract is to assist JRC.C.6 in the execution of model-driven analyses of regional and global projections of GHG emissions, with a particular focus on the climate-protection pledges announced in 2020 by the main Asian emitters. The contract will assist with updated data, scenario analyses and improved model-based capabilities. It includes the study of the feasibility, costs and implications of the series of implementation pathways.
