Planned call for tenders' details
Information
Tender reference number
JRC/2021/LVP/2659-ExA
Title
Data-collection activity on gender differences in the labour market
Description
Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle value procedure.
The purpose of this tender procedure is the implementation of an independent study by the JRC aimed at identifying the behavioural factors related to the gender pay gap . In particular, the contractor will support the European Commission by implementing an online experiment. The study will focus on understanding and confirming existing evidence on behavioural traits attributed to women. For example, to investigate if social comparison in the labour market is gendered, if women are less prone to proactive salary negotiations and self-promotion, if they are more likely to signal their willingness to work for a lower wage, if under certain circumstances they are more risk averse, have lower levels of competitiveness and underperform in negotiations when information is scarce. Finally, women seem to be harsher than men in their self-evaluation, tending to see themselves as less competent than their co-workers, which can lead them to accept unfair treatment.
