Název	Innovation practices for sustainable agri-food supply chain
Popis	Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure. The “Farm to Fork” (F2F) strategy, a key component of the European Commission’s Green Deal, aims to transform EU food systems by supporting the three aspects of sustainability - economic, environmental and climate, and social and health. It includes the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices (e.g. precision farming, organic farming, stricter animal welfare standards or innovative ways to protect harvests from pests and diseases). Challenges and entrepreneurial opportunities for product and process innovation emerge for all operators in the agri-food supply chain. To better understand the drivers of innovation practices for sustainability and current and planned practices by operators of the agri-food supply chain, the Economics of Agriculture Unit of the Directorate Sustainable Resources of the Joint Research Centre is launching this project. The contract aims to collect information through literature review, semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire to operators (companies and business, including farmers and SMEs), active at the primary production, processing, packaging, wholesale, distribution and retail stages of the agri-food supply chain as well as from related organisations that represent or serve these companies and businesses. The objective of the contract is to bring evidence of the main drivers of innovation for sustainability (e.g. customer demand, production costs, reputation, regulation) and practices that operators are putting or planning to put in place in this area. The analysis also aims to identify how drivers and actions vary across different sectors (e.g. cereals, dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables) and different stages (e.g. farmers, processors, distributors, retailers) of the chains.
