Titel	Galileo Full Operational Capability Search and Rescue Data Provision – First Phase
Beschreibung	The aim of the Galileo programme is to establish the first global satellite navigation and positioning infrastructure specifically designed for civilian purposes. The system estab-lished under the Galileo programme is completely independent of other existing or potential systems. The objective of this service contract is to prepare and initiate the service provision of the Search and Rescue (SAR)/Galileo Service. The SAR/Galileo Service is one of the 5 services that will be offered by Galileo. The SAR/Galileo Service will be provided in support of the Cospas-Sarsat system operations. The provision of the SAR/Galileo service will be implemented through the following two phases: 1) the SAR/Galileo service preparation phase which aims at preparing and qualifying the initial SAR operations and ensuring their integration within the Cospas-Sarsat sys-tem. 2) the SAR/Galileo service provisioning phase which aims at providing the annual re-curring operations service to be provided (operated) by a service provider called "SAR/Galileo Data Service Provider". The present procurement procedure and the ensuing contract only cover the first phase.
