Homogeneity monitoring of two candidate certified reference materials ERM-FD104 (titanium dioxide powder) and ERM-FD105 (barium sulfate) by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The purchase is a critical requirement in the production process of the aforementioned certified reference materials (link to JRC.F.6 active work programme). The contractor will analyse the size of the constituent particles of an alumina-coated titanium dioxide (candidate ERM-FD104) and a barium sulfate (candidate ERM-FD105) fine powder using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and according to the technical specifications as described below. The certified reference materials will be needed in support of the implementation of the European Commission’s Recommendation on the definition of a nanomaterial (2011/696/EU). Provided samples: -13 vials of candidate ERM-FD104 (labelled as IRMM-388), each containing approximately 250 mg of alumina coated titanium dioxide powder -10 vials of candidate ERM-FD105 (labelled as IRMM-387), each containing approximately 250 mg of alumina coated barium sulfate powder
