Qualitative analysis of SELFIE Impact

SELFIE is the European self-reflection tool to help schools develop their digital capacity. It was launched by the European Commission in October 2018 and now counts more than 7500 schools and 670,000 users from 57 countries. The study concerns a qualitative research to analyse the impact and use of SELFIE in schools with the aim to explore ways to improve the tool and the support materials and get insights into how the tool can be used in the most effective way to support the digital transformation of schools. To this end the study will need to 1. Identify indicators and describe the impact of SELFIE 2. Situate the impact of SELFIE within the context of the digital transformation of schools, taking into account interrelated concepts like: digital readiness of schools, school management models, the changing landscape of technologies, theory of change in organizations, integration of innovation in education as well as the datafication 3. Run at least 15 case studies, in three different countries (five schools per country). The study will gather qualitative data on the impact of SELFIE in schools but also design and test interventions (design-based research) which will aim at supporting schools to use SELFIE in ways that support their digital transformation. 4. Provide a set of recommendations including but not limited to: the improvement of the tool; support material; school actions; taking into account also the difference between school types.
