Titolo	Enhanced Dark field microscope
Descrizione	Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure. The JRC (Joint Research Centre) Unit F2 is working on the development of new technological platforms for the rapid and comprehensive physico-chemical characterization of nanomaterials, to study their interactions and to investigate their fate in the environment. The focus is also put on nano and microplastics, that are found in the environment and represent a growing concern for the citizens. Finally, these platforms are applied in the Unit for COVID-19 related issues such as pathogens detection. In these different areas, the real-time detection and characterization of nanomaterials can be done through optical microscopy, using in particular dark-field and fluorescence microscopy. However, since viruses or nanoplastics are weak scatterers, an enhanced dark-field setup is necessary.
