Computational thinking and computer science in school education in Europe (Computhink)
Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure.

The aim of this contract is to provide an update and further analysis of the 2016 JRC report “An analysis of educational approaches to developing Computational Thinking”. The report provided a comprehensive overview of research findings and grass root and policy initiatives for developing Computational Thinking in compulsory education in Europe. Since the publication of this report, however, many changes have been happening on curricula in Europe. This is linked to the growing understanding that digital competence goes beyond basic digital skills. The study will reflect on these changes and in particular on how curricula are addressing the need for developing competences in computational thinking and computer science. The work will include: • A review of academic and grey literature and policy documents; • Semi-structured interviews with experts, policy makers and stakeholders; • A final report summarising Computational thinking and Computer Science approaches and paradigms in primary and secondary schools in Europe.
