Can you please indicate if the primary purpose of the skills courses is linguistic progress or other focused on other communicative techniques (e.g. presentation skills)? Thank you.

The purpose of the skills course might be different, depending on the actual course, but usually focus both on the skill (e.g. presentation skills) and on the linguistic progress (ie. language used, typical linguistic errors, etc.) Staying with the example (presentation skills) the participants should learn how to deliver high quality presentations in English.
