Can we assume to use a link certificate and a self signed certificate to prove the possession of the private key or is there any other method that you have defined?

As stated in 3.2.1 of [1], the root CA shall prove that it rightfully holds the private key corresponding to the public key in the self-signed certificate. The CPOC entry (see also more details in [10]) shall check the identity of the entity bringing the certificate (see section 3.2.2. of [1]).
