Related to TS. Page 17 description of “Task 1: Compile a detailed inventory of production sites, waste deposits, landfills and treatment centres of lindane and HCH in the EU”
Next to the lindane production sites, landfills and treatment centres there are sites on which HCH soil and/or groundwater contamination occurs, sometimes after (temporary) deposited waste has been removed. Do these sites with known or expected HCH soil and groundwater also need to be identified ?

Although the scope of the contract focuses on production sites, waste deposits, landfills and treatment centres, it is advisable to record in the inventory also sites (potentially) contaminated with HCH from other sources, certainly if such information was received from the contacts with the stakeholders and public authorities. Diffuse HCH contamination, e.g. caused by agricultural application of pesticides, should not be inventoried.
