Deliverables 1.1 and 1.2 of Work Package 1
An excel list and graphical presentation are required listing, amongst others, the importers and main players in the respective industries. Information going further than contact information is likely available at the respective branch organizations and industry representatives, however, we already know at this stage that they will not be able to provide more detailed information due to confidentiality and competition reasons. With this in mind, we see two options: a: provide the list and presentation with the help of industry, but anonymized; or b: put together the information from publicly available sources without the support of industry and without the validation of industry. What is your view on this?

Indeed confidentiality and competition requirements are a concern that may limit the availability of information on industry structure. Co-operation with the industry is of vital importance for this project therefore providing anonymised data is of higher value than a list not validated by the industry. Anonymised information on company size, country of origin and amounts of minerals imported will serve the purpose of analysis in this study. However, relevant contact information should be collected for the purpose of dissemination of information on due diligence support system available.
