Scope and definition - finance (Section 1.5.1)
One of the study tasks is to define unsustainable finance in the blue economy, section 1.5.1, task 2.. Fishery subsidies are mentioned as example of unsustainable finance elements. Would EASME have a specific definition of “subsidy” in mind? Would e.g. tax reductions or non-financial benefits from governments be considered as a subsidy?

Draft answer: Section 1.3 refers to subsidies that are currently exacerbating overfishing and illegal fishing. This includes all forms of subsidy/contribution that intensify these problems. This relates to target 14.6 of Sustainable Development Goal 14. https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdg14
