Question details
4.3 Echelle-type spectrometer
The next question is based on your answer: “It is intended to purchase an instrument to replace another (Echelle-based) that has reached the end of its service life. The former instrument is used to make measurements by validated methods within the scope of our ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. We require a replacement instrument with performance characteristics as similar as possible, to limit the amount of method re-validation work that will need to be done” 1) => If we can guarantee you that our instrument (Pashen-Runge based) and its methods can be accreditated according to norm ISO/IEC 17025 and that no more validation of re-validation work has to be done, there is no reason why an echelle-based instrument would fit your purpose more than a Pashen-runge based instrument. Correct? 2) Further on this also means that it would be acceptable for you if we can deliver the following instrument: Pashen-runge based, can be accreditated according to norm ISO/IEC 17025 without the need for more validation or re-validationwork and which can fulfill all your analytical demands. Correct?

1) No. 2) No. As the decision on how much validation work is necessary for methods in our ISO 17025 accreditation scope ultimately lies with our accrediting organisation, it is not possible for any other body to promise that no validation work would be required. Method performance criteria are dependent on instrument performance, and a new validation exercise will need to be undertaken when the instrument is changed.
