Question details
Subject: Clarifications on technical specifications - Part 2
4) Mixing system. The technical scoring table assigns points to mixing systems with 4 or more injection points, but there are only three flows. Should, eventually, high pressure flow be taken into consideration as well? 5) Emergency flashing lights (3.21). Is it acceptable to supply on the roof of the cab a low profile LED flashing bar (possibly also incorporating front depth white LED lights and side perimeter white LED lights) instead of 2 faired flashing lights? In our opinion, in the event of a break, if in the future it becomes necessary to change the models and type of flashings, a bar independent from the cabin’s roof guarantees a greater interchangeability. 4) Fire fighting pump, paragraph 4.1: Can the minimum performance required of the water pump be better explained? 3500 lpm @ 10 bar / 400 lpm @ 35 bar? 5) Fire fighting pump, paragraph 4.1: A cooling system auxiliary to the engine one is required by means of water drawn from the fire pump. This system has been out of use for many years as the cooling systems of modern engines can safely cool the engine even at full power and in stationary conditions of the vehicle, especially since in this case the power required by the pump (in the order of 110 kW) is much lower than the maximum of the engine, for which the cooling system is sized by the manufacturer (over 400 HP). This avoids making changes to the cooling system that could lead to problems, leaks or malfunctions.

4) Yes, considering the fact that the possibility of having foam on the high pressure flow as well, all the available flows must be considered. 5) The advantages and disadvantages of the various types have been evaluated and the technical detail requested for the emergency optical devices is reported in the technical specifications at point 3.21. Variations to the technical specifications are not accepted. 4) The centrifugal pump of the vehicle must be of the "Rosenbauer NH35" type or equivalent as per technical specifications (i.e. medium pressure 3,500 l / min @ 10 bar, high pressure 400 l / min @ 40 bar (max. 500 l / min)). The performances to be respected are indicated in the EN 14466 standard as reported in the technical specifications themselves. 5) For the cooling system, the pump connected to the engine of the vehicle is required, as per technical specifications, with the function of always ensuring maximum efficiency of the centrifugal pump as it is cooled or heated by the radiator of the vehicle and not vice versa.
