Question details
Building extraction
Thanks for the answer about the Building extraction. Continuing with the analysis of the Appendix A, we need another clarification regarding the extraction rules of the industrial building (FFN=99). The paragraph 6.5.4 states: “For Industrial facilities (manufacturing and utilities), capture the buildings inside and populate the FFN attribute” This concept is confirmed and consolidated by the Figure 11 and relative legend in the chapter 6.5.5, where buildings inside the industrial facility have been extracted as polygons. From the response received in 14/12/2011 on the subject of “Extraction of buildings”, SatCen stated that the Annex-2, Table 17 is correct, meaning that industrial buildings with FFN = 99 are only extracted as PAL015 and not as AAL015. Since the two information’s seem contradictory, we would like to clarify this point. Extract only PAL015 for FFN=99, that will result in one point per industrial facility with the same FFN? If not, please clarify the rule that should be followed.

A new version (“revised v. 0.1”) of Appendix A (“Technical Specifications”) to the Tender Specifications has been published on e-Tendering. The only changes in Appendix A (Annex 2 -“Extraction of Buildings”, page 81) are as follows: • The first sentence in the second paragraph now reads: “All buildings indicated on the table below have to be extracted as a Point feature (PAL015 – Building) and Polygon feature (AAL015 – Building), where the area is larger or equal than 100 sq.m”. • Table 17: the extraction rules of “FFN 99 – Industrial/Manufacturing” and “FFN 362 – Water Treatment” have been updated.
